  1. I was a little upset about getting rid of our classic Splash mountain but I find myself so excited to see Tiana's new digs! It's going to be great! 💚💜💛⚜️

  2. If the frogs are Tiana and Navine, it probably follows the same logic for why Beast is still seen in the parks in beast form instead of human form. Same with Pinnochio still being a wooden boy and not a real boy. 🙂

  3. It definitely doesn’t have to be changed, especially if Disney is going to expand the park. Lets be honest, the actual ride is in no way, shape, or form racist, the movie itself has aged poorly and stems from a time that is nothing like now. Im genuinely excited to see Tiana get her own ride as TPATF is one of the most underrated Disney movies, but nervous at the same time that they’ll not just ruin her ride but that her ride will never live to what Splash was. One other point is I’ve rarely seen anybody complain about the ride that wasn’t some young white person pushing an agenda

  4. The name of the ride is iconic and did not need to be changed. The IP which occupied the Mountain was inherently racist and did need to be removed. It would have been a grander statement if Frog and the Princess replaced the former inhabitants instead of starting from new.

  5. It's so weird that so many people really loved a "racist" ride. So either you don't really believe it's racist and you're just virtue signaling, or you actually DO believe it's racist and you still love it. Hmmmm, what a conundrum. You're either liars or racists. I'm guessing a little more of column A than B.

  6. The only thing I ask from Disney is to put in individual safety bars or each guest cause the size difference between my mother and I when we ride is so significant that she still holds onto me on the big drop and I am legitimately scared at the same time 😅

  7. It will be interesting to see how the ride is received, since the movie received criticism for its depiction of voodoo, stereotyped characters and “historical negationism,” which I had to look up. It’s basically a falsification of history. Anyway, what’s wrong with just a cute flume ride with a big drop? Why does it have to be relevant and empowering? Hopefully it will just be fun with lots of catchy music.

  8. I grew up riding splash mountain, it was one of my family’s favorite rides, I’ve never heard of or seen princess and the frog so that’s just one more reason not to go back to Disney, all the rides but one I grew up with are gone, I can think of much better ways to spend $5 grand than packed in line with a bunch of strangers in 100 degree weather.

  9. Eh there was nothing offensive about Splash Mountain it just used the cartoon elements from the movie which wasn't where the criticism came from. There was nothing really racist in the movie itself, the main complaint was what it left out & gave the wrong idea of what reconstruction era south was like for the recently freed slaves. That was typical Disney sanitization though, plus it's fiction not a documentary. What sold Splash Mountain though IMO was the soundtrack & audio of the ride more so the set design & characters. Tiana's ride needs to equally nail that soundtrack. The concept art of Tiana looks great, hopefully it translates well IRL.

  10. Disney is being really dumb with this decision, the ride is fine how it is, why shut it down so they Can re theme it off some dumb princess that nobody cares snout

  11. And I’m so glad they are adding ips to everything bc me as a child born 1985 ….. going to Disney was boring characters looked scary and I didn’t understand most stories from the rides ….. they looked real antique and scary with baby doll’s everywhere…. I loved universal…. Now Disney have been winning me back

  12. You missed the part about bc the song of the south is very racist…. A song and story about African slaves …. Just be honest…. And some the scenes were very questionable like the fox behind the bear … or the bear big butt and middle part up and out …. Real 🍕 gate … so yeah …. Good job Disney

  13. Our daughter could not get through the movie so we are not a fan of the whole idea. And my wife is not a fan of getting wet so I think we will pass on this one

  14. The ride is not racist Disney does not want to pay for the maintenance of all the antimtronics this is not the first time: Great movie ride, Horzions, Junge cruise, Nordstrom, pirates of the Caribbean have all had downgrade and it won’t stop.

  15. I predict a simple, low-budget reskin with everything screen-based. Why not make an entire new area for The Princess and the Frog including a new restaurant with jazz music?

  16. I disagree with the notion that it HAD to be changed

Iger has made it clear that he wants EVERYTHING in the parks to be connected to an IP…I think this is a mistake however because I personally feel like there most popular things are things that are not connected to IP such as haunted mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.

Now, I’m aware that splash Mountain was inspired after a film called song of the south, and I understand the controversy around this film however, the right itself has never contained these controversies. They wrote the script from the movie, where a Brier Rabbit gets caught in a ‘tar baby’ to instead be him getting caught in a beehive and honey.

I think a lot of people love this attraction more so than DISNEY wants to admit

I do think that Tiana is a great Disney princess and an amazing character, and I’m not opposed to her having her own attraction or appropriate representation in the parks

But I do think that she should be getting her own unique attraction rather than likely cheap re-theme of an existing attraction

Disney has been known to cut corners with their reskins and re-themes.

I do think that there is going to be too much princess and the frog going on in Disneyland: what, with Tianas bayou adventure, Tiana’s palace restaurant, Eudora’s boutique, parade floats, window display, meet and greets.

Again, I really do love the princess and the frog but in my opinion, it’s a bit much

I’m not as upset about them, changing it in Disney world because I think that they don’t have as much representation for her in not the Magic Kingdom

Splash Mountain will always be one of my favorites, so I am biased and it’s favor

  17. "The Princess and the Frog" is set in Louisiana – New Orleans and a nearby bayou. There are no mountains, hills or even waterfalls in Louisiana. How is replacing Splash Mountain with Tiana's Bayou, while keeping the log flume setup a good thing? Because it smacks of bad theming to me. Why couldn't Disney Parks simply create a brand new attraction featuring Tiana? By the way, Splash Mountain and "Song of the South" originated from African-American folklore. The ride is the only one in the Disney parks that is based on African-American folklore. As for "Song of the South" . . . the movie was set TEN YEARS after the Civil War. Meaning that Uncle Remus and the black characters were no longer slaves during the movie's setting. I find Disney Parks' attempt at Progressive politics false and shallow.
