  1. Don't stay too near train stations, in my (female) solo travels, areas around train stations have many homeless people (mostly males) and generally speaking, what looks/sounds like people with mental health issues. I try and look as androgynous as possible (I'm 5' weigh 110 lbs; I'm not a big person) and never tell anyone I'm on my own. I've stayed in Airbnb's solo without any problems but I don't tell them I'm travelling solo. I say my partner is out looking for something, eg. buying a sim card, a parking spot, a pharmacy etc. I book mostly day tours with tour companies in those countries and have encountered no problems. I do lots of research before I go, have paper and google maps, stay at places that are on the same street or a street near the Ritz Carlton, Hyatt, Four Seasons etc. I love the freedom of solo travel.

  2. This is sooooo helpful! I’m solo traveling this month for the first time in nearly 20 years and I’m kind of freaking out. I’m sure I’ll be fine, but I’m a totally different person than I was back then and I’m doing all the research now. You made some great points here and I’m definitely thankful for that. ❤️

  3. I’m getting ready to take a very long road trip so I always appreciate videos like yours that help remind me of what to watch for, even though I grew up in a large city and have a bit of “street smarts” to show for it.

And yeah, I’ve watched so many true crime videos where people were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or was trying to not be rude, got lost while traveling, ignored their gut instincts, or a myriad of other mistakes while traveling alone and the perpetrators took advantage and did horrible things 😳🥺🫣

So yeah, thank you for sharing this great advice; it can literally save lives!

    ✌🏼💖🖖🏼

  4. I have a solo trip booked next week and I’m beyond ANXIOUS, its to Jamaica where I have tons of fam & friends but haven’t told a soul.. staying in all inclusive but am still a bit weary because even hotel workers could probably figure out after a few days I’m alone without even speaking to me. Im still going and super excited but will def have my guard up on full alert!!! (I made sure the rooms have a manual lock inside the room and purchased a door device from amazon 🙈) unfortunately it was more $ to say 2 people were staying so that may be why I’m a little psyched. Im sure all will be well 🙌🏽

  5. Thank you for these tips. I have traveled alone for business for over 12 years, but now that my children are older, I am sooo looking forward to my first alone leisure trip.

  6. Biggest mistake I made was bringing my friend with me twice. We both wanted to do different things. I couldnt do what I wanted when i wanted. Never again.

  7. Hey this was sooo helpful wow! The first thing about your laptop helped me . I tend to carry a lot at once and for me I know I need to pack evrything away before walking around. This will also keep me off my phone and alert!

Next the arrival and departure! Wow didn’t even think of thattttttt I really wanted to leave Catalina Island at night in order to have a full last day but you are right! Danger waits at night! I’ll def make sure I’m gone by afternoon and back home by night! I am extremely grateful for this video !

Another thing is the Airbnb when you talked about it I thought about the fact that at a hotel there’s lots of other people . If you need help you can find it! But an Airbnb is just you alone at a house. Could be harder to get help! Thanks for this <3 and GOD BLESS YOU!!

  8. My husband is ALL the way accross the country from me due to military training and I'm flying out to visit him in a couple weeks, but I've never flown before. Let alone flying solo. I'm a little nervous but really excited and this helped a lot!

  9. yup. when your spideysense tingles GTFO. Great tips. Also a great tip about if the locals dont do it-dont do it. In 2023, as a solo traveler I do not do airbnb. Too many weirdos who ALWAYS have access to their home. Hotels have major discounts especially if you book far out. You can get a hotel room as cheap as Airbnb these days.

  10. Incredibly good points. I strongly agree on always prioritising your safety despite sometimes not wanting to seem rude for a reason or another. Your safety is way above other peoples emotions. Stay safe ladies

  11. Yes, you are so right about planning the time of arrival. I've learned my lesson. My first solo travel was in November to France and I arrived at night. I've researched the how to ride the train, but because it was nighttime past 9 and drizzling, I got lost. Was really scared. Thank you for mentioning that.

  12. I am having my first solo trip @ 50 to Barcelona in a few weeks (watched your video on Barcelona earlier) thanks for the tips. Very useful 👍🏾

  13. Thank you so much. I've done a couple of solo trips in the U.S. and have done really well with research. But you have made me think about some things internationally. I will probably try an English speaking country first and know that I'm in a safe hotel. I appreciate your knowledge. I will want to leave and arrive during the daytime.

  14. I lost my box of goodies at Heathrow airport to. Good tips. Be careful of a rooms that have a hidden camera .don't give any private information to a taxi driver , shop keeper ,waiter.
